CORY PHILLIPS OBITUARY

Cory Brooks Phillips was beautiful. He struggled with addiction most of his life. And he was so many amazing, exciting other things: a motorcycle and car enthusiast (as long as they were fast); an avid gamer and movie goer (things he enjoyed most with his daughter); a gym nerd, health nut and one-time body builder; a dog lover; a neat freak; a Viking culture buff; a lake- and beach- and mountain-goer (to Colorado in particular - it was his dream to live there).

He was a proud, hard-working owner of a successful business, Cory Phillips Roofing; his work ethic and talent for sales were unmatched. He was an integral part of a strong network of men to whom he was both a role model and a protege. He loved his family (the one he was born into and the one he chose), he adored his daughter, and he was surrounded by people who wanted nothing but the best for him.

Because he was sick and struggled with his addictions, these wonderful things were hard to see sometimes - hard for us to see and hard for him to see, too. Cory was a self-identified miserable soul, but a light in the world, nonetheless. The world is a darker place today than it was when we woke up on August 9th, 2022. We are speechless, but we also can't seem to stop talking about him. We will never be the same without you, Cory - "Son" "Dad" "Brother" "Nephew" "Cousin" "Friend". His spirit is alive in us: his beautiful daughter, Riley; his parents, Marion and Kurt (Mae Mae and Papa); his "big" sister, Katie; close friends of the family without whom we could not get through this, Leanna Doster and Charles Clement; dozens of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends and chosen family.
